Co-founder of the 1960 Metabolist movement, but his built work moved past Metabolism's megastructure rhetoric into a quieter, beautifully detailed late modernism. The Hillside Terrace complex (Tokyo, 1969–1992 across six phases), Spiral building (1985), 4 World Trade Center (2013).
