Kenzō Tange

Japan's defining post-war architect. The Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum (1955), Yoyogi National Gymnasium for the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building (1991). Mentor to the Metabolist generation (Kurokawa, Maki, Kikutake).

Pritzker laureate 1987. Tange's office trained four future Pritzker laureates (Maki, Isozaki, Tange himself, Taniguchi).
