B. V. Doshi

Worked under Le Corbusier on Chandigarh (1951–54) and under Louis Kahn on the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (1962–74) before founding Sangath (his Ahmedabad studio, 1980) and a body of housing work — Aranya Low Cost Housing (Indore, 1989).

Modernist principles inflected by Indian climate, craft, and social grain. His housing typologies were always incremental and self-finishing.

First Indian Pritzker laureate (2018). Aranya housed approximately 80,000 residents in 7,000 incrementally-built homes.
